Radical Structuralism in the House
This book focuses on the legacy and continued appeal of the high-tech domestic architecture, exemplified by Hopkins House. Influenced by visionary architects like Cook, Friedman, and Kurokawa, houses like Hopkins House exemplify a radical and anti-urban ideal focused on technological progress and flexibility.
Although these experiments remained limited to one-off houses (often built for architects themselves), their cultural impact endures. Today, with the climate and energy crises, high-tech housing must evolve: it must embrace circular economy principles, reuse materials, integrate sustainability, low-carbon technologies, and biogenic materials.
